Program of Studies

Why Museum Studies?

Museum Academy students in each grade focus on three interdisciplinary thematic units each year to bring their museum-based learning environment to life. This approach encourages guided exploration and discovery, supports meaningful apprenticeships and projects, and fosters interaction among peers.

Students will explore, research, create and present quality exhibits to share with the school, parents and the outside community. These exhibitions may also include partnerships with community museums to display the students’ projects. Classroom, as well as school-wide projects, will transform the school into a living museum with grade level students acting as docents for the exhibitions.

The school will use the four patterns of effective museum learning:

  • Museum process apprenticeships
  • Creation of apprentice researchers
  • Knowledge-building communities
  • Project-enhanced learning
